Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my claim take?

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) recommends a maximum timescale of 8 weeks for an authorised firm (mortgage broker or financial adviser) to complete its complaint investigation process. However, this can sometimes take a few weeks longer in some cases. Should your mortgage complaint proceed to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) then this can take many months before being resolved.

What experience does Mortgage Complaints Bureau have?

All of our Claims Managers have at least 15 years experience of the UK mortgage market with detailed knowledge of the FSA complaints process.

Can you guarantee I will receive compensation?

Unfortunately not. We will present your mortgage complaint in the best way we can but we cannot guarantee the outcome.

How much does your service cost?

We will require a fee of £199 once you have signed and returned our Terms of Business to enable us to review your mortgage complaint.  For a successful compensation claim, we will also deduct 10% of the amount of compensation paid. As an example, if you are awarded £5000 compensation we will deduct £500 and pass the balance of £4500 to you.

Am I able to make my mortgage complaint without using you?

Certainly, the FSA and FOS complaints process allow consumers to seek redress without cost to themselves.

What if I have not kept all of my mortgage paperwork?

Not to worry, we will work with what you have and seek further information from the mortgage adviser that sold you your mortgage.

Can you help me complain to my mortgage lender?

Our service is only for mortgage clients who wish to complain to their mortgage broker or financial adviser.

Can you reduce my mortgage debt or get my mortgage balance written off?

Our service is solely for mis-sold mortgages. We do not review financial contracts for legal irregularities with the aim of getting the debt reduced.

Can you help with mortgage endowment complaints?

Our service is only for complaints about a missold mortgage where advice was provided by a mortgage broker or financial adviser, this does not include mortgage endowment policies.

Can you provide me with mortgage advice?

Unfortunately not. We are not authorised to provide mortgage advice.
